Godspeed You! Black Emperor

I have been waiting for so long to see this band and honestly I never thought it would happen because they broke up in 2003 and it looked like they would never get together to play another show. I just knew that they wrote one of the most important songs in my life (Sleep). I was front and center for the show. Pressed right up against the barrier. I was so excited with a million different thoughts in my head. What songs will they be playing (Each night they would have a different set list) was the thing I thought about the most though. I was hoping they would play Sleep but they haven't been playing it the past few show so I had little hope that they would play it.

3 guitarists, 2 bassists, 2 drummers, and 1 violinist.

Halfway through their set they start playing a clip of a man talking..... MY SONG! I couldn't believe it. I think everyone has a song like this. A song that reminds you of certain things. A song that pushes you physically and mentally. A song that can hurt and help at the same time. A song you rely on so heavily. This is that song for me... The song ended with a few tears.

After 2 1/2 hours of beautiful, loud, and bright music I was exhausted. It was the best show I have ever seen. Their music just takes so much out of you. Everyone should experience something like this at least once in their lives. It means more than anyone can know.
